Dear Friends,
APRIL 17th – Save the Date! April 17 is the date that Susan Steingass, Mary Berryman-Agard, and others will be hosting a fundraiser for me at Bunky’s Restaurant in Madison.
This Week:
A return of temperatures above the single digits meant that I was again campaigning door-to-door this past weekend. I was fortunate to join with County Board Supervisor Dorothy Wheeler as she took her re-election bid across Madison’s Northside. My two older boys, Devin and Bailey, joined us. People continue to express their concern about
educational opportunities of our youth, the lack of healthcare security, and the direction of our state and nation.
Also this past weekend Senator Russ Feingold celebrated his birthday at the High Noon Saloon. As always, the turnout was great. Russ gave a passionate speech about the pressing issues of the day, and touched on holding our Democratic presidential candidates to their promises and our hopes. Melissa and I attended with our children. Our kids were interested in meeting a progressive statesman that has inspired so many.
Unsolicited Quote of the Week: “Given their agenda, are you sure you want to be in the Assembly?” Progressive advocate at Senator Feingold’s event. My response was, “That is exactly why I’m running, we need to change the direction of the Assembly and reclaim our state!” It would be fair to say I’ve gotten this question a lot in the last couple of
weeks. My response is from the heart.
** Thank you to those of you who sent well wishes to Melissa and I for our 11th Wedding Anniversary, which we celebrated on March 1st. I’m amazed that family and friends are so thoughtful to remember and celebrate anniversaries. As for me, I feel greatly fortunate to have found such a wonderful, patient, smart, and caring partner. Being blessed with three wonderful children has strengthened our commitment
to making the world a place of greater opportunity and happiness for the next generation.
Looking Ahead: April 17th is the date for the fundraiser that Susan Steingass and Mary Berryman-Agard are hosting. I would be honored to have you attend and bring friends and family. The owner of Bunky’s on Madison’s Eastside is a friend who also lives in the 81st Assembly District and she has graciously offered to host the event. I have been fortunate to have such strong fundraising advocates like Susan, Mary, and many of you. The funds that you help me raise for the campaign mean that I can continue to work on grassroots outreach. The funds that you help me raise for the campaign mean that I can continue to work on grassroots outreach.
