Week of March 24th, 2008

Dear Friends,

Busy week on the campaign trail. I’m pretty sure that I passed myself at least once as I zig-zagged back and forth across the district. This last week I attended two different County Board forums; visited with other Democrats at the Party’s Howard Dean event; participated in a Wisconsin Heights School District referendum forum; spoke to a gathering of south-central Wisconsin labor leaders; and still managed to enjoy a quiet Easter with the family.

The referendum forum is a scene that is being played out across Wisconsin as local school districts struggle with declining enrollment, increasing costs, and additional state mandates. As a father of young children, I share the concerns of many parents - that our children have the same educational opportunities that we had to help us succeed. As an elected official I will address the need to fund these educational opportunities at the state capitol.

Unsolicited comment of the week: “How, where, does the change we need start?” asked a frustrated small business owner. “It starts here and now at this table, we need to get Justin Sargent elected!” replied a supporter who had introduced the two of us.

Our much anticipated April 17th fundraising event that Susan Steingass and Mary Berryman-Agard are hosting needed to be delayed. Unexpected scheduling challenges came up for a couple of the key hosts. We plan to proceed with the event in May, so please keep up the help in recruiting hosts and sponsors.

Special thanks to the volunteers that answered last week’s email and have come forward to help out!

Justin
