Week of February 4th, 2008

Dear Friends,

This last week, UAW Local 95 Janesville-Madison officially announced that I received the Union’s endorsement and full support, an endorsement I am honored to accept.

Here are two quotes from the UAW endorsement statement: “Wisconsin’s working families need strong advocates for healthcare reform, economic security, job growth, and educational investments. Justin Sargent has that rare mix of integrity, experience, and passion that makes him a powerful voice on these important issues,” said Koeberl. “He is hands down the best candidate for the 81st Assembly seat.”

“Sargent is a roll-up your shirt sleeves and get the job done person.” Said Jami Hassinger, “Our labor families proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with Justin Sargent to get Wisconsin back on the right track.”

I believe that the UAW endorsement reflects my commitment to working with labor and business to create family supporting jobs in a strong, vibrant opportunity economy. I also appreciate that the UAW did not just evaluate the candidates on one issue, but looked at the depth and breadth of our experience.

This Week:

This week I attended a Warner Park planning discussion; an education discussion at Morris Church; and I joined snowmobilers from across Dane County in an annual fundraiser for Easter Seals. I also attended a number of presidential Super Tuesday watch parties.

I met with environmentalists and conservationists from Waunakee to Wauwatosa at a grassroots advocacy event at the state capitol. The event was supported by a number of solid groups, including the Wisconsin Wildlife Federation, River Alliance of Wisconsin, and the Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters. We discussed topics from climate change to reducing mercury contamination in our waters.

If you know of an event that I should attend, feel free to let me know!
