Dear Friends,
What a week! Wisconsin held the nation’s attention as we struggled to
decide between two great Democratic frontrunners. I attended as many
Presidential Primary events as possible, to touch base with friends
working passionately on both campaigns.
I enjoyed hearing Ambassador Joe Wilson speak at the Dane Democrats
meeting. I, too, was able to address the group. I spoke about my race
for state Assembly and touched on my passion for education, finance
reform, addressing the healthcare coverage crisis, and conservation, in
particular.
Primary night found me not far from my polling place as I helped
Melissa and many other great PTO volunteers have a wonderful community building family fun night at Gompers Elementary School. We raised a decent amount of funds to help the children attending Gompers. As school finances are stretched further and further, we are working hard
so that the children of the Northside have the same educational
opportunities their parents did. There were many teachers working
beside the parents and it made me proud of our neighborhood school. I
know that this same scenario is played out across Wisconsin.
Unsolicited Quote of the Week: “Justin, keep up the fight, we need
Sargent education reform, cause we can’t bake our way out of this!” –
Parent at Gomper Elementary School PTO fun night and fundraiser
speaking on my commitment to reform our education system funding.
Every week I look at my after-work schedule and determine how I can get
out and talk with people about education, healthcare, conservation and
an assortment of other important state issues. Sometimes I miss seeing
an event announcement so if you know of an event that I should attend,
feel free to let me know!
- Justin
